A single dandelion glows among the surrounding grasses, its bright yellow flower bringing a sudden point of warmth to the quieter greens and earth tones around it. Small, familiar and easily overlooked, it becomes its own patch of sunshine.
The dandelion has accompanied people for centuries. Its flowers, leaves and roots have all been valued in traditional food and herbal practice, although today it is too often dismissed simply as a weed.
Sun Amongst the Grasses began with a photograph taken while walking with Vera, my German Shepherd. It was carefully developed through colour, texture and expressive mark-making to create a unique, one-of-one botanical artwork.
The piece is presented in a solid light-oak frame with a clean white mount and real glass. It comes ready to hang, accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity and a personal note telling the story behind the work.
One walk. One artwork. No editions.
