About
Walking with Vera began with a simple belief. The countryside has countless stories to tell if we slow down long enough to notice them.
Most days begin with a walk. Sometimes it is a wildflower beside a footpath, sometimes a bird overhead, an old dry stone wall or the way the light changes across the valley. Those small moments become field notes, artworks and, occasionally, the stories you will find throughout the website.
Many of the moments that inspire the artwork happens because Vera stops before I do. She has an uncanny ability to notice the things I might otherwise have walked straight past.
My hope is that these collections encourage others to pause, look a little more closely and rediscover the quiet beauty that still exists all around us.
Welcome to walking with Vera
How the Artwork is Created
Every artwork begins with observation. During our walks photographs capture a moment, a place or a feeling that deserves a second look. These images are then carefully developed using an array of digital techniques, with each artwork refined through many stages of composition, colour, texture and specific detailing until it reflects the experience of being there.
Every finished piece is unique and produced only once.
Thank you for walking with Vera. I hope that this artwork, field notes and stories encourage you to slow down, look a little closer and discover something of your own.
